As a judge for the Petrona Award which recognises the best of Nordic Noir, each year I read dozens of books from Scandinavian countries. Looking back at the list, I’m tempted to tweak it here and there as 2016 is proving to be a year of high quality additions to the genre. However, I think the books that I’ve chosen will stand the test of time. As the Petrona Award enters its fifth year, and Scandinavian books have been a fixture on the crime fiction landscape for over a decade, it’s heartening to see how robust the genre is.
