Holmes Back At Baker Street

The world's most famous detective will return to Baker Street this Christmas as Madame Tussauds confirms a new figure of Robert Downey Jr as the legendary Sherlock Holmes is near completion. In celebration of the Boxing Day release of the new fim adapatation"Sherlock Holmes," Madame Tussauds has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures on a new experience of the legendary detective as portrayed in the film by Robert Downey Jr.

The figure of Downey as Holmes will recreate the strikingly modern image created for the film, with a penetrating stare, tousled hair and dapper black and grey suit, waistcoat and cravat.

"We're very excited to be welcoming Sherlock Holmes back to Baker Street and to be including Robert Downey Jr. in the attraction for the first time," commented Liz Edwards, PR Manager for Madame Tussauds London. "Holmes and Madame Tussauds are both London legends with strong ties to Baker Street, but Robert Downey Jr.'s interpretation of the character in the movie has a definite 21st century twist, reflected in a very contemporary look and feel to the figure."

The creative team have used information and over 300 precise measurements gathered at a sitting with Downey Jr. in Los Angeles. The figure has cost £150,000 to create and is scheduled to be revealed to coincide with the build up to "Sherlock Holmes" in December.
