The jury for the 2018 Icepick Award, which includes the Icelandic Prime Minister, has shortlisted five novels for the 2018 Icepick Award, the award for the best translated crime fiction in Iceland this year. The shortlist is as follows:
A.J. Finn – The Woman in the Window / Translator: Friðrika Benónýsdóttir
Jo Nesbo – The Son / Translator: Bjarni Gunnarsson
Dolores Redondo – The Invisible Guardian / Translator: Sigrún Ástríður Eiríksdóttir
Iain Reid – I’m Thinking of Ending Things / Translator: Árni Óskarsson
Leila Slimani – Lullaby / Translator: Friðrik Rafnsson
The jury for the award is composed of the Icelandic Prime Minister, Katrín Jakobsdottir, Kolbrún Bergþórsdóttir, literary critic, Ragnar Jónasson, crime writer, and Jóhann R. Kristjánsson, translator.
The award was founded by the Reykjavik Crime Festival Iceland Noir, The Icelandic Association of Translators and Interpreters and The Icelandic Crime Writing Association. The Icepick 2018 will be awarded at the Iceland Noir crime fiction festival in Reykjavik in November (www.icelandnoir.com). Previous winners of the Icepick include Joël Dicker, Jo Nesbo, Marion Pauw and Ann Cleeves.
