The authors and Icelandic translators of the following five novels are shortlisted for the 2017 Icepick Award, the award for the best translated crime fiction in Iceland this year:
E.O. Chirovici: The Book of Mirrors. Translator: Magnea J. Matthíasdóttir.
Ann Cleeves: Raven Black. Translator: Snjólaug Bragadóttir.
Shari Lapena: The Couple Next Door. Translator: Ingunn Snædal.
Deon Meyer: 13 uur (Thirteen Hours). Translator: Þórdís Bachmann.
Jo Nesbo: Politi (Police). Translator: Bjarni Gunnarsson.
The award was founded by the Reykjavik Crime Festival Iceland Noir, The Icelandic Association of Translators and Interpreters and The Icelandic Crime Writing Association. The Icepick 2017 will be awarded in November. The jury for the award is composed of Katrín Jakobsdottir, Member of Parliament and former Minister of Culture and Education in Iceland, Kolbrún Bergþórsdóttir, editor and literary critic, Ragnar Jónasson, crime writer, and Jóhann R. Kristjánsson, translator. Previous winners of the Icepick include Joël Dicker, Jo Nesbo and Marion Pauw.
