The Cat Who Tailed a Thief by Lillian Jackson Braun
The Cat Who Tailed A Thief by Lillian Jackson Braun
There is a mystery in this one, but it's quite a small one and you can spot it from miles away, so you can stop worrying. Noting will impede your enjoyment of the characters, the tall tales and the descriptions of food. And of course for those that like them (I don't) the cats.
Lillian Jackson Braun is writing entertainments with a side order of detection. People who buy these books re definitely investing their time in the fictional town of Pickax, just as Charlotte Mcleod's fans like Balaclava. Happily the detection (and the cats) take up less space each time round, leaving us with pure unsullied amusement. I realise that there are those in the crime fiction community that would have Lillian put to death for this, but she looks a tough old bird and I think she'd take 'em in two rounds. Pass the tea and toast, I'm settling in for the night.
