Waterstones Piccadilly (on Wednesday 28th October) will be the setting for An Evening of Domestic Thrillers. There’s no denying we’re a nation in thrall to domestic noir. Sinister motives, perverted desires, dangerous secrets – we want them all, but only in the pages of our books or on our television screens. But why is this phenomenon taking such a hold on us at the moment? Hosted by No Exit Press, three leading crime authors will be interviewed by crime expert BARRY FORSHAW, discussing our grim fascination with the genre.
American author, JASON STARR from No Exit Press, is in London as part of his European tour promoting his new novel, Savage Lane. He is one of only a handful of writers to have won the Anthony Award for mystery fiction multiple times. Author and journalist MELANIE (mj)MCGRATH joins from Pan Macmillan. Her most recent novel, The Bone Seeker – the third novel in the hugely compelling Edie Kiglatuk series – was longlisted earlier this year for the CWA Gold Dagger award for best crime novel of the year.Guardian crime reviewer and writer, LAURA WILSON, from Quercus, has multiple awards to her name and her new novel The Wrong Girl is out in February next year. The panel discussion will be chaired by Barry Forshaw: a journalist, writer and broadcaster, and one of the UK’s leading experts on crime fiction and film.
